Own and drive a high complexity Cisco IOS software release train or major sub-tending branch in support of a major IOS release as a member for the Release Engineering Organization. Lead cross-functional project team in the development of the program plan. Understand the deliverables of all functional areas (Engineering, Test, Sync/Build, Documentation, and Product Management). Translate work items, dependencies and information about available resources into an integrated release schedule. Assess risks and develop contingency plans. Drive EC planning and subsequent execution by monitoring progress in all cross-functional areas according to milestones and schedules. Work proactively to anticipate and resolve project issues and escalate when appropriate. Host weekly Release Operations meetings, publish minutes, and manage action items. Drive and own the successful completion of commits and milestone reviews. Direct release ops staff in lower level release activities. Participate in and drives high-level strategic decisions about Release direction. Champion process, productivity, and tooling improvements. Facilitates the customer IOS software adoption process by engaging with BU, Account Teams, Customer Advocacy, Advanced Services and Customers to provide software rebuilds that address customer issues as required. Also engage in the Escalation Process with all associated stake holders in support of the Critical Account Process and to provide tactical solutions leading to long term strategic solutions for our customers. May also manage large sized or strategic initiatives.
What You'll Do
The successful candidate will also possess the following background, skills, and related business and technical knowledge: BS or equivalent. 10+ years overall experience, including 4+ years in project/program management of large complex software projects. Excellent grasp of product development life-cycle and software engineering methodologies. Good understanding of industry-standard SW Quality measurements, techniques and methodologies. Strong leadership, management, communication, influencing, team building and problem solving skills. Ability to work as a team member and lead team efforts in a cross-functional matrix team organization. Ability to interact with senior management. Excellent understanding of defect tracking and categorization methodologies.
Who You Are
Excellent understanding of image / platform / release contents definition, tracking and delivery. Excellent understanding of test results interpretation. Ideally, has knowledge of routing, routing protocols, intranet and internet.
