What You'll Do
The Advanced Services Business Development Manager role is an important function with a charter to grow Cisco’s Advanced Services business within the assigned geography addressing Global Service Provider accounts.  You will need to understand the customer network and install base, understand the gaps and challenges in terms of the customers business and be able to convert those challenges into viable Services business outcomes. A consultative approach, the ability to listen, work cross functionally with sales, members of technology Center of Excellence (COE) and services delivery teams is critical and necessary at all times.  There will be opportunities for you to be involved in strategic initiatives that are driven by Cisco from a broader perspective. These initiatives are typically forward looking from a strategy perspective and the successful candidates knowledge of market transitions, technology transitions and customer consumption models are key elements that will contribute towards creation of new business streams for Advanced Services .

Other responsibilities include:
  • 40% of the time spent is invested in supporting the Level Of Effort (LOE), with the technology Center of Excellence (COE or IDT) which would be an outcome directly based on customer interactions and requirements gathering. The responsibility of crafting proposals rests with the BDM, however the BDM has the support of backend resources (GDC) to fulfill such needs as long as proper oversight is provided at all times in actual proposal development.
  • 50% of the time is invested in driving sales, customer interactions and value propositions for deal structuring. These activities are realized through tight interlocks with the extended sales and delivery teams embedded within the accounts.
  • 10% of the time is invested in providing forecast cadence in terms of opportunities, so priorities and involvement is aligned to business goals.
Who You'll Work With
The team consists of highly technical individuals with command in one or more technologies like Mobility / PCRF, Routing and Switching, Video, Software, Analytics, DevOps, Security, and Datacenter to name a few, and work alongside the sales teams with a consultative approach in driving new AS adoption within our Global Service Provider customers. The team is a critical bridge between customer requirements gathering (Sales) working alongside with dedicated System Integration Architects (SIA) and System Delivery organizations to ensure that proposals meet customer requirements and Cisco’s financial performance metrics. Coordination of the Level of Effort (LOE) of a particular solution and providing oversight in terms of the delivery of the proposal, working alongside Business units, Sales and Delivery organizations is an important function within the team.
Who You Are

You are a self-starter and a team player with a track record of success in combining technical and consultative business skills to drive the business. You have prior experience using web driven pricing, forecasting and approval process tools and if not familiar with such tools, then the willingness and flair to ramp up quickly will be required. You have demonstrable leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross functionally while being able to handle conflicting pressures and priorities.

Our minimum requirements are the following:
  • A strong background in at least one or more of the following areas – Mobility, Security, Video, Data Center , Analytics, Orchestration.
  • Knowledge of NFV / SDN and being able to translate knowledge of Routing / Switching to software based use cases and linking them to Advanced Services opportunities is a plus.
  • A strong technical background in one or more of the areas mentioned above and prior consultative sales experience in driving business is vital.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and drive the delivery of AS business proposals either independently or through the use of GDC (Global Delivery Center).
  • Prior knowledge of Cisco AS practice and portfolio would be highly beneficial. 
  • Prior management experience would be a plus, but not required.
  • Requires an undergraduate degree in Engineering, MS or MBA preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in customer centric roles like System Engineering, sales, IT or Services Delivery.
