FUNCTION: Operations


The Sams Club International Operations Club Manager Program was created to attract top, highly talented students who are interested in careers in International business. Due to Sams Club expanding their global presence, there is an increased need for talented, highly trained individuals with a global mindset to work within our international corporate offices.

This program includes up to 9 months of training in the Sams Club Home Office in Bentonville, Arkansas and is designed to train and familiarize associates to the corporate side of retail operations. This dynamic training program will consist of classroom sessions, experience of club operations, one on one training time with a mentor experienced in the business, as well as managing subset of products that are currently selling in stores. After completion of the training portion of the leadership program, the associate will then transfer to the China market to assume a position within that countrys club operations organization. The time spent at the Sams Club corporate office will equip the associate with a solid base of functional knowledge and practical skills that will be implemented in his/her new role in the China.

Due to the nature of the program, qualified students must be authorized to work in the United States for a minimum of one year from the starting date of the program AND already have unrestricted work authorization in China. Because this program is not an expatriate program, the career path does not lead back to the U.S. Alternatively, the career path is designed to empower you to help our customers live better as you start your life and career in an international market. Sams Club will not sponsor candidates for a visa or employment authorization in the United States or in China for this position. Candidates who are in the U.S. on a student visa may be eligible to work in the U.S. during the OPT (Optional Practical Training) portion of their student visa.

Job Description

Understanding and implementing the Sam's Club business model is the key to growth in the international markets. Our goal is to train associates in the corporate office for up to one year and then transfer them to their designated international location. Upon successful completion of the program in the U.S., you will be prepared to assume a critical Operations role (such as Assistant Club Manager) in China. Your time spent training in the U.S. will provide you the knowledge and training necessary for you to excel in our international location. Your understanding and execution of company business model will further increase our success and brand globally.

Assists in the development and management of new and existing product lines

Partners with Replenishment to execute and maintain inventory plans

Responsible and partner with planning team to manage profit and loss (P&L) and financial forecasting

Manage supplier relationships

Building successful modular to meet customer needs and category growth,

Achieve both sales and profit plans by understanding customer needs and market trends,

Keeping track of market share from competitionMinimum Qualifications:Bachelors degree in business, finance, retail management, logistics/supply chain, operations management, food science, or related field

3.0 GPA or higher

Unrestricted work authorization in either China

Authorization to work in the U.S. for at least one year from the start of the program

Fluency in English

Fluency in MandarinAdditional Preferred Qualifications: 3.5 GPA or higher

Masters degree, preferably from business or engineering school or MBA with retail business/supply chain operation background.

Previous work experience in a store/club operations setting

1-2 years previous leadership experience or managerial skills

Strong analytical, operational and computer skills

Excellent communication skills (written and oral)

Motivated to deliver high quality results

Team player with strong interpersonal skills

Sound business acumen

Strong initiative to Microsoft Excel
