Position Summary:
Laurel Heights, an intensive residential treatment center for children is looking for FULL-TIME MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATES to work with children with severe mental health and autism spectrum disorders. Candidates must be able to work 2nd shift (2:30pm-11pm) and work every other weekend. Must have experience in similar environment, preference given applicants with college degrees/coursework in psychology or behavior analysis. ABA experience a plus. We are an EOE.
 
Requirements
College degree or 3 to 5 year working experience in a similar setting working with behaviorally disordered children and adolescents. Acceptable oral and written communication skills; legible handwriting; ability to maintain information as highly confidential; telephone etiquette and customer service skills by phone and face-to-face; familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred; skills in dealing courteously with the public and other staff within the organization; basic knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology preferred; skills in prioritizing and in managing time; problem-solving skills; use of appropriate social skills, including demonstration and respect for staff and patients; empathy toward children and adolescents; basic knowledge of child growth and development preferred; experience working with abused children/adolescents helpful; skills in limit-setting necessary; able to respond to children/adolescents in a firm yet nurturing, caring manner, while maintaining professional boundaries necessary; responsible for understanding and using the least restrictive interventions per facility policy and successfully avoid seclusion and restraint whenever possible; willingness to seek supervision in this regard necessary. Employee must have a valid Georgia’s Drivers License.In the absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame via the organization 's orientation and training program.
