Position Summary:

The Access Coordinator is accountable for directing the Intake, Assessment and Referral activities at the facility as well as the Business Office. This position involves extensive contact with the community and interfaces closely with the Director, utilization review staff, Millwood Hospital staff and the Community Education Representative of Excel to insure continuity of communication. This position is also responsible for inquiry calls, insurance verification, payment collections at the time of admission and data entry.

Key Performance Expectations:
 1.    Telephone screening of all inquiry/intake calls with appropriate referrals made for any emergency situations and appointments scheduled as indicated.
 2.  Documents inquiry/intake calls in system data base on a daily basis.
 3.    Assigns and posts Appointment schedule for assessments.
 4.    Completes or assigns assessment of patients and schedules admissions.
 5.    Makes follow-up calls to those failing to show for scheduled appointments.
 6.     Completes insurance benefits verification for assessments.
 7.    Coordinates transfer referrals from Millwood Hospital and obtains clinical data for stepdowns.
 8.    Admissions: Completes patient registration including financial responsibility agreement, consents, admission documents (assuring pt and parents understand all rights and responsibilities). Ensures patients and families receive an orientation to the program.
 9.    Completes admission chart, financial and UR folders for new patients
 10.   Responsible for all facility financial duties including: up front collections, sending financial records to MW the day of admission, maintaining facility petty cash system balancing receipts with expenditures, and completing follow up collections in accordance with financial agreements .


Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, mental health or a related field OR
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting
Licensure: RN, LMSW, LCSW, LPC or LPC Intern
Additional Requirements: CPR and CPI training as outlined in New Hire Policy must be completed before providing direct care services.
