Job Description

The purpose of the Accounting Technician is to support the accounting and purchasing departments. Additionally, the Accounting Technician:

  • Reviews invoices for proper authorization, verifies documentation of receipt of goods, verifies correct pricing and invoice accuracy.
  • Reviews employee expense reports and AP check requests for proper authorization, adequate documentation and mathematical accuracy
  • Accurately determines the correct expense codes for invoices, employee expense reports and AP check requests.
  • Input payables into McKesson system
  • Maintains A/P records and files.
  • Prepares monthly reconciliation of vendor statements
  • Stocks floor inventories
  • Inventory warehouse
  • Write requisitions and purchase orders to replenishing the warehouse
  • Place orders on the phone and internet.
  • Ensures internal controls are properly followed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as proficiency with computers and software including Outlook, Excel, and Word. Experience in an office environment is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: The Accounting Technician must be able to accurately perform work of a detailed nature; meet work deadlines; make sound, independent judgments based on scientific and/or ethical principles; adapt to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis; have a working knowledge of computers; and be able to read comprehensively and communicate both verbally and written.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION: Must be able to complete new hire requirements, such as a background check and drug testing; demonstrate special knowledge, training, and skills specific to the Accounting Technician position within the first three months; complete all mandatory in-services annually; and be tested for Tuberculosis with a PPD skin test or chest x-ray upon hire.

GENERAL WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Working conditions for all employees are as follows, but are not limited to a psychiatric hospital setting: risk involved in the event of aggressive patient(s); workload may include day, evening, night, weekend, and/or holiday shifts. Employees may occasionally be exposed to blood borne pathogens and loud noises. Mental demands described herein are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job, but are not limited to the ability to remain calm in stressful environments; and the emotional stability, physical stamina, and agility to handle stress and respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Requirements include, but are not limited to the ability to communicate effectively with employees; the ability to effectively utilize communication equipment; the ability to read, write, and spend a great deal of time at a computer. Additionally, the candidate must frequently utilize physical ability for standing or sitting for long periods of time; regularly utilize physical ability for speaking, hearing, and seeing with correction for close and distance vision; color discrimination; peripheral vision; depth perception; and focusing ability; mental demands include but are not limited emotional stability, physical stamina, and agility to handle stress and respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations.
