Position Summary:

Suncoast Behavioral Health Center is a private, acute inpatient psychiatric facility designed to provide quality services in a supportive environment to children, adolescents and adults.

The Activities Therapist conducts the activities of expressive/art/music therapy in order to improve functioning and independence and to provide recreation resources and opportunities for all patients with a focus on improving health and well-being. Responsibilities include assessing patients within two (2) days of admission and completing evaluations of progress. Additionally, the Activities Therapist facilitates recreational therapy groups and organizes leisure programs.

Requirements

Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Art or Music Therapy. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Recreational Therapy.

Experience: Two (2) years’ experience providing activities/recreation therapy. Prefer minimum of two (2) years’ in a psychiatric setting with children, adolescents and adult population.

License/Certification: Certified Recreational Therapist (CTRS) or certification eligible.

Physical Requirements: Extensive sitting, standing, walking, reading, lifting over (50 lbs.) pounds and participation in active physical recreational program.
