Under the direction of the Director of Social Services, the Recreation Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing therapeutic recreation programs that assist in reducing stress and improving patient functioning.

Job Requirements

Education/Training: 

  • Degree from an accredited college or university in Therapeutic Recreation, Activity Therapy creative/expressive arts, social work, or another appropriate discipline preferred.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required or equivalent

 

Experience:

  • Two (2) years related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques, an understanding of mental illness, chemical dependency, and co-occurring disorders.

 

Licensure/Certification:

  • Certified Therapeutic  Recreation Specialist(CTRS) or Activity Therapist

  • Current Florida Driver’s License (may be required to drive company van on occasion)

  • Current CPR
