Therapeutic Activity Counselor provides patient care for an assigned group of patients according to an established schedule and plan of care and as competency documentation designates under the direction and supervision of a licensed clinical social worker, Group Counselor or equivalent.

Job Requirements


    • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work or other mental health field
    • One year  or more of group counseling/therapy experience with adults
    • Must be able to assist in the physical restraint of disturbed patients utilizing Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) model
    • Verbal De-escalation training required within 90 days of hire
    • Current certification of Basic Life Support for Health Care Professionals (BLS)


  • Demonstrated ability to work with people who have a chronic mental illness, psychosis, severe depression and/or substance abuse
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with people who are under physical and/or emotional stress and to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations
  • Ability to work in a team setting and in group situations
