The Mortality and Policyholder Behavior section of the Individual Life Insurance Experience Analysis Group analyzes experience and develops assumptions for multiple purposes including pricing, DAC unlocking, regulatory testing, financial forecasting, dividends and other special purposes. The group develops assumptions for Legacy Prudential, Legacy Hartford, and new products.


The Analyst provides actuarial support in product development, financial analysis, management reporting, experience studies, and other research activities. Assignments may be project oriented and individual functions will vary, based on the nature of the project and expertise of the individual. Candidates must have a solid aptitude for statistical interpretation, applying advanced quantitative concepts and utilizing computer applications. Actuarial credentials such as ASA/ACAS or FSA/FCAS are not required. Expertise is gained through experience and perhaps a few actuarial courses.

Primary responsibilities of this position may include:


• Sourcing and validation of mortality and policyholder experience data

• Development of basic mortality and policyholder behavior assumptions

• Updating of assumption documentation

• Coding and loading of assumptions into a modeling system database

• Assisting with ad hoc requests

• Assisting in process improvement efforts

• Assisting in control and governance process

• B.A. / B.S. required - preferably in applied mathematics, statistics, finance, or related field

• Solid analytical and problem solving skills

• Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills

• Strong oral and writing communication skills

• Process and results oriented, with strong attention to detail

• Strong organizational skills

• Flexible, with demonstrated interpersonal and partnering skills


Strongest consideration will be given to candidates who have some of the following:


• Knowledge of SQL, VBA and / or R

• Knowledge of life insurance products

• Experience with Polysystems or GGY Axis

• Continuing education toward a professional designation or advanced degree
