Description:

 

Individual Life Insurance seeks talented applicants for actuarial trainee positions for the PolySystems Modeling Center of Excellence (COE) team located in Newark, NJ. The primary focus of this position will be to support the development and maintenance of the Life Master, UL Master, and Delphi valuation systems for individual life products. This role will be focused on the US Statutory, tax reserve, and GAAP / DAC valuation. Major responsibilities include the support of the following activities:

•Refining reserve calculation methodologies and evaluating reserve impact due to regulation requirement changes.
•Documenting any system changes / issues, testing plans and results and having necessary controls in place for the integrity of the results generated by the system.
•Implementing actuarial valuation projects and working closely with other cross-functional teams such as pricing, modeling, experience study, external and internal auditors / regulators.

There is an expectation that applicants will pursue the actuarial exam track with the goal of becoming qualified actuaries.   Support is provided.


 

•Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, Economics, Business, Science-base, or another analytical field
•Successfully passed one or more actuarial exams is desired
•Experience working in an actuarial position or internship is a plus
•Experience in model development, implementation and/or validation a plus
•Knowledge of insurance products is a plus
•Knowledge of software packages used in business communication such as MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
•Programming skills and experience is a plus
•Solid oral and written communication skills
