The Horsham Clinic is a 206 bed private behavioral healthcare facility located on a beautiful 55-acre suburban campus.  We are minutes from Philadelphia and we serve Southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Admission (ARC) Nurse provides professional nursing care  in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of The Horsham Clinic and the ANA Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care. The ARC Nurse's primary responsibility is to screen and assess referred and newly admitted patients' medical needs in collaboration with hospital Physicians. The ARC Nurse assists in the telephonic and in person assessment and communicates findings to the Shift Coordinator and other team members. The ARC Nurse also assists with the transfer of patients with acute medical needs that can not be managed on site. ARC Nurse also completes ARC Counselor responsibilities during high volume periods.

This position doubles as a Admissions Counselor. The ARC Assessment Counselor's primary responsibility is to provide telephonic and in person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinate the referral and intake process, and maintain communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. The Admissions/ARC Counselor maintains responsibility for medical reviews, assessments as volume allows, phone management and completion of the admission process by effectively communicating cases. This individual must be self-motivated, well organized, able to multi-task, handle sensitive material and maintain confidentiality.

The ARC Nurse/ARC Counselor must demonstrate flexibility and the knowledge and skills required to provide care to a varied population including children, adolescents, adults, older adults, and dually diagnosed patients.

Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/bodily fluids, and other hazardous waste. General hospital environment.


Must possess a RN Diploma, Associates or Bachelors from an accredited nursing program. 2 year prior psychiatric nursing experience preferred. Experience working with various populations.

Licensure and registration by the Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners as a Registered Nurse.

Must possess knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management and CPR training.

Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient clinical setting.

Preferred strong customer service and organizational skills, accurate, thorough and timely follow-up with attention to detail.

Must also be comfortable using a computer, and working in a fast-pace environment.
