Job Description

Reporting to the Manager of Access Services and the Admitting/Communications Assistant, the Admitting Representative registers and admits patients ensuring adherence to specific departmental policies and procedures.

 

 Essential Job Duties:

Accurately enters patient demographic and insurance information.

 

Processes patients in a timely manner.

Ensures necessary authorizations have been obtained and entered into the system.

Ensures all appropriate notes are entered in financial comments.

Obtains copies of both sides of the insurance card(s) and ID.

Requests deposits/co-pay as appropriate from patients.

Provides explanation, obtains patient signature on mandated forms.

Verifies accuracy of face sheet information with patients before distribution.

Prepares and places patient armband.

Refers patients that need financial assistance to the Financial Counselor.

Completes a Doctor's First Report for patients with work related injuries/illnesses.

Maintains all supplies necessary for patient registration/admission.

Balances cash sheets and cash box at the end of every shift.

 Deposits all cash receipts and deposits in valuables safe at the end of every shift.

Escorts or arranges escort for patients that are directed to another department.

Ensures ongoing communication and comfort with all patients in the waiting room.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

One year previous experience as an Admitting Representative or medical receptionist preferred.

Computer experience preferred.

Knowledge of the legal and technical aspects of Admitting third party insurance, and scope of responsibility in treating indigent patients preferred.
