This Medicaid Agent Manager will manage Agents/Brokers who sell the UnitedHealth Group portfolio of products offered to Essential Plan and Child Health Plus beneficiaries and individuals up to, and including, age 64. This Agent Manager is responsible for achieving assigned sales/membership growth targets through the sales of the agents/brokers in their territories.

 

The Agents/Brokers are not employees of UnitedHealth Group but rather independent sales agents who contract exclusively with UnitedHealth Group to sell this portfolio of products. Agents/Brokers may sell additional/alternative products that do not compete with this UnitedHealth Group product portfolio (i.e., life insurance, home insurance, etc.)

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between agents and UnitedHealth Group sales process owners to ensure agents are appropriately set up and supported across their lifecycle. This includes, contracting, licensing/appointment, certification, training, enrollment administration, commission payment, agent servicing, etc.
  • Manage day-to-day time and activities of assigned agents to ensure appropriate leading indicators of success and corresponding sales results
  • Continually build and nurture stable agents
  • Partner with the Agent Recruiting Manager to source and select candidates for agent positions to ensure a continual pipeline and sufficient base of staff to meet assigned sales/membership growth targets
  • Provide a structured on-boarding process, leveraging corporate contracting, certification and training processes, tools and systems
  • Organize involvement in formal and on-the-job training to ensure an accurate understanding of our products, compliance/policy requirements, sales processes, brand and value proposition messages and sales systems
  • Organize agent activities to ensure effective and efficient coordination across the territory
  • Coach and manage performance
  • Coach/ develop staff to achieve quantitative and qualitative performance targets
  • Use data and insights to coach for optimal performance
  • Monitor sales results, trends and key performance indicators (KPI's) and hold agents accountable for achieving targets
  • Conduct ride-alongs to observe sales techniques and ensure alignment with expectations and compliance with State regulations
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to review sales results/activities and provide feedback/coaching on opportunities for improvement
  • Achieve assigned sales targets: Achieve assigned sales/membership growth targets through agents in his/her territory(ies)
  • Identify and develop relationships with individuals and organizations that influence the buying behavior of our target consumer (i.e., providers, regulators, faith-based organizations, associations, etc.)
  • Understand the strengths and weaknesses of each organization and how it impacts the marketplace
  • Facilitate engagement of agents and ensure that ICA's appropriately build and advance our brand and value proposition and represent our product portfolio and service offerings
  • Compliance: ensure agents adhere to sales and marketing guidelines associated with State regulations and company policies and procedures
  • Work with Direct Sales channel in terms of Medicaid referrals
  • Work with Service Team to support member service (members signed via Agents)
  • Consistently demonstrate professional verbal and written communication

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent years of experience

  • 3+ years experience supervising, coaching and mentoring a team

  • 3+ years business development and/or marketing experience
  • MS Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Reside within a commutable distance to assigned sales territory
  • Travel up to 75% of the time within assigned NY sales market

  • Access to reliable transportation that will enable you to travel to client and/or client sites within a designated area

  • Bilingual Chinese or Korean

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Medicaid and/or enrolling members into government sponsored programs

  • Experience supervising, coaching and mentoring a sales team

  • Previous healthcare industry experience

  • Established community contacts within assigned sales territory
