This position is for a CTI Alliance Management Lead to lead the management of strategic relationships with academia and patient Foundations and other entities for Pfizer's Centers for Therapeutic Innovation (CTI). The candidate plays a key role in the establishment and management of CTI's relationships, building upon existing relationships and creating new relationships to support the scientific goals of Pfizer's Worldwide R&D (WRD) organization.

The successful candidate has extensive experience managing third party alliances and a proven track record of driving effective and successful partnering between internal and external business, legal and scientific teams. He/she has excellent relationship building and influencing skills with a wide range of stakeholders from bench scientists to senior leadership. The candidate must be a confident, respectful, respected and energetic self-starter who is able to multitask, work across global sites and work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

The candidate will also be expected to fully embrace and embody the entrepreneurial spirit and biotech-like culture, values and goals of CTI and contribute to creating an exciting, productive and scientifically rigorous working environment.


The CTI Alliance Management Lead will be responsible for:

+ Working with the External Science & Innovation (ES&I) Leadership Team to provide thought leadership and support for revitalizing CTI's partnering strategy

+ Working with ES&I stakeholders as well as BD and Legal colleagues to support the establishment of new partnerships beyond the traditional CTI model and ensure optimal management of both existing and new partnerships across a range of organizational types, geographies and business models

+ Leading a strategic refresh of CTI's Foundation partnerships

+ Supporting an understanding of CTI's competitive positioning and facilitating the design, implementation and management of communication plans to ensure diverse internal and external stakeholders are well informed of CTI's activities and capabilities, helping CTI and thus ES&I compete effectively amongst its peers

+ Planning for and executing CTI's outreach events including its Calls for Proposals aligned with WRD strategic focus areas, working with others across CTI and the External Science & Innovation (ES&I) team to set Call topics and manage the review processes and arising communications

+ Managing scientific proposal review processes between senior/executive level internal and external stakeholders, ensuring arising outcomes are documented, communicated and actioned in a timely manner

+ Serving as a primary point of contact for CTI partners to ensure pipeline continuity, by effective management of transactional activities associated with bringing projects into and through the CTI pipeline, including coordinating contract submission and negotiation and managing publication and IP review processes

+ Serving as a primary point of contact for issue resolution for business, legal, patents and contractual queries for all past, ongoing and incoming projects

+ Adopting a 'partner of choice' mentality whilst using a deep knowledge of CTI's business and legal agreements to develop solutions to highly complex problems and thus ensure effective management of arising issues



+ MSc or equivalent in Life Sciences, with a sound understanding of pharmaceutical discovery and development

+ 10+ years experience in the 'business of science', of which at least 7 years has been spent developing and managing value-creating partnerships in the life sciences, specifically the management of industry-academic alliances and advising stakeholders on partnering strategies

+ Outstanding organizational, relationship building and influencing skills, with experience working across and influencing in a highly matrixed environment

+ Experienced and comfortable working in a multi-stakeholder environment

+ Resourceful, innovative thinker comfortable with ambiguity and demonstrated creative problem solving skills. Decision- and action-oriented.

+ High level of autonomy, self-motivated with a track record of on-time delivery in complex and often ambiguous situations and within tight timelines


+ PhD, MBA, JD, PharmD or equivalent

+ Experience in an academic business office (technology transfer and/or licensing office)

+ Familiarity with Pfizer organization and processes, including an in depth understanding of Pfizer's alliance activities, processes and practices
