Job Description

Roxbury Treatment Center is a private 112-bed sub-acute detoxification/rehabilitation and psychiatric center located at the foothills of the scenic Blue Mountains. In our 60-bed chemical dependency unit, detoxification is conducted under close medical supervision. This unit includes our Military Initiative Program designed to treat active military personnel dealt with chemical dependency and mental health issues. The team of physicians and our around-the-clock nursing staff provide the needed assessment and care. The Recovery Program offers a professional approach to the treatment of chemical dependencies. Our treatment team includes Certified Addictions Counselors, Masters and Bachelors level clinicians, and nurses. Roxbury also has an acute psychiatric unit treating individuals with mental illnesses who need short-term hospitalization. This program specializes in treating adult patients who are suffering from co-occurring disorders; mental illness and substance use/abuse issues. Staffed with mental health techs and nurses around the clock, our Chief Medical Officer and psychiatrists oversee this cutting edge psychiatric treatment program. An acute psychiatric unit treating adolescents between the ages of 13 - 17 is currently in operation at Roxbury Treatment Center. Staffed with mental health techs and nurses around the clock, our Chief Medical Officer and psychiatrists oversee this cutting edge psychiatric treatment program helping teens deal with mental illness and co-occurring disorders.

Roxbury is currently recruiting a full time (32 hours per week) Allied Therapist. The Allied Therapist assesses patient’s leisure and recreational development needs, providing age and developmentally appropriate therapy groups and establishing behavioral treatment goals in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Roxbury Treatment Center.

Education And Experience:  

Master’s Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in Allied Therapy or other related field which includes a practicum in health or human service agency preferred. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in Allied Therapy or other related field and one year of clinical experience in a health or human services agency required.  Certification as a registered allied therapist preferred.



Knowledge of individual, group and family therapy theory and practice and group leadership skills.  Must possess knowledge of dual diagnosis/chemical dependency/mental health patients; age-specific patient issues, limit setting and behavior management, crisis prevention and intervention techniques; ability to communicate orally, telephonically, and in writing; working knowledge of computer systems and various software; must maintain certification CPR, Verbal De-Escalation, and Handle With Care. Must possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to be a team player. Good documentation, organization and time management skills are necessary. Must be effective in decision-making and problem solving. 

Physical Requirements:         

Must have physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping. Drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment urine drug screen.
