Streamwood Behavioral Healthcare System (SBHS) is a 178-bed acute care facility located in Streamwood,IL and has been providing mental health treatment to the Chicagoland community and the state of Illinois since 1991. We are dedicated to offering services to meet the ever-changing emotional and behavioral healthcare needs of children, adolescents, and their families.  

SBHS has a Alternative Behavioral Intervention Program Therapist position available.  The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:The Alternative Behavioral Intervention Program (ABIP) School Based Therapist performs social service functions in the context of the school based alternative to suspension program. The ABIP therapist conducts initial participant interviews and leads group based programming designed to assist participants in meeting their bio-psycho-social needs while enabling them to work toward meeting their unique programming goals. The ABIP therapist ensures that referred participants are appropriate for the ABIP program and refers those who are not appropriate for ABIP to appropriate levels of care. The ABIP therapist works closely with U-46 district administrators and staff from referring schools including school principals, deans, social workers, teachers and other school staff in an effort to understand reasons for referral to ABIP program and to develop appropriate programming goals. The ABIP therapist communicates with parents of participants as needed. The ABIP therapist also develops transition plans and works with referring school staff to facilitate participants’ smooth return to school upon completion of ABIP program. The ABIP therapist is responsible for completing all required external communication and programming documentation  completely, accurately, and according to established deadlines. The ABIP Therapist provides services in IOP and PHP during all school breaks, including holidays, winter, spring, and summer breaks. The ABIP Therapist is responsible for completing all other duties, as assigned.

Job Requirements

::

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:   A Masters Degree in a related mental health field is required.  A minimum of two (2) years experience in behavioral health with experience in individual, family, and group therapies, crisis intervention and treatment skills is preferred; must be Bilingual- Spanish preferred and have strong clinical assessment skills, with a majority experience focused on the child/adolescent population is preferred.  DHS/DCFS background/ knowledge is preferred.  Valid Illinois driver’s license is required.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: LCSW or LCPC is required within two (2) years of assuming this position. Employee may pursue designation of Clinical Psychologist instead of above licensures.  Primary Source Verification shall be required through Illinois Department of Professional Regulations
