The Corporate IS Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Application Analyst I-BH Custom Development and Reporting.

Monitors the resolution of interface and application maintenance and enhancement issues from user and customer base.  Provides technical support to UHS entities as needed.  Meets deadlines and ensures continued progress toward assignment completion. Interfaces with the user community regarding application and interface support.  Shares experience and expertise with other members of team.  Dedicated to maximizing customer satisfaction and minimizing service disruption.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Researches and resolves Customer Support Center Tickets including detail research and resolution of both application and interface issues.
  • Adheres to UHS Service Level and Change Management Policies.
  • Provides on-call support as scheduled.
  • Establishes and maintains regular communications with user community (down-time notifications, etc.).
  • Tests, supports, and documents new development or enhancements to existing applications and interfaces.
  • Supports the implementation of applications.
  • Performs or assists in the performance of unit and system testing.
  • Provides documentation as needed.
  • Adheres to appropriate UHS Project Management standards.
  • Ensures strict adherence to work plans, notifying management of delays or obstacles.
  • Assists staff in recommending application solutions to meet business and customer needs.
Job Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • Experience and / or technical coursework at the collegiate level in Computer Science or Information Systems relating to relational databases and interface methodologies, customer support, data integration principles and project management concepts.  
  • Technical School, Associates Degree or 1 year of coursework in Computer Science or Information Systems is required with a Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of system application support methods and practices.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems analysis and interface protocols and procedures, including: consulting with users to determine system functional specifications; design, development, documentation, analysis, testing or modification of computer systems or interfaces based on user design specifications.  
  • Basic knowledge of IS standards and quality methods and metrics. 
  • Basic knowledge of project management methods.
  • General familiarity of user business practices, concepts and terminology sufficient to support the applications. 
  • Language proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal fluency. 


Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient in SQL.
  • Understand HL7 standards and have working knowledge of interface engines.
  • Ability to test, debug, modify, tune and document HL7 messages as needed.
  • Maintain and support existing HL7 interfaces.
  • Determine the HL7 interface customizations required for each project.
  • Participate in testing of any new releases of the HL7 messaging system.
  • Excellent analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Create system and program level documentation and support documentation.


Travel Requirements: 0 – 5% domestic US travel (depending on projects).
