The Corporate IS Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Application Analyst I-Charge Services.

Working as a member of the IS Cerner Charge Services team, the Application Analyst participates in implementations.  Assists with analysis of clinical, business and technical processes within the acute care and ambulatory settings with a goal to integrate and align charge services functions to be standardly deployed throughout the UHS enterprise.  Works to resolve customer issues/ concerns identified during times of implementation or support activities.  Learns to assist with diagnosing problems; facilitates and communicates problems within and across teams in order to determine and deliver resolutions to our end users. Examines the clinical and business workflows and assists in system and application integration activities. Provides assistance in conversion activities including end user support, application troubleshooting and application / technical configuration. Assists in the resolution of post-conversion system issues (break/fix, maintenance or enhancement) as requested by the facility or assigned by the UHS Customer Support Center.  Implements changes to existing applications as directed by management. 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Researches and resolves Customer Support Center Tickets including major application upgrades.
  • Provides system change management support to the acute care facilities and physician offices and other UHS employees for requested changes and/or enhancements, adhering to UHS Service Level and Change Management Policies.
  • Provides on-call support as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains regular communications with supervisor and team.
  • Works closely with operations to modify the Cerner system for any charge service changes, enhancements or break/fix solutions.
  • Performs quality reviews on all system modifications and manages daily workflow thru UHS Incident Ticketing System.
  • Reviews and works with team to resolve all suspend charges daily.
  • Assists in maintaining Charge Services products as needed in accordance with regulatory guidance.
  • Assists in the creation of Tip Sheets/How to Documentation, when applicable, to support new functionality of system, workflow modifications or modifications to current build/design.
Job Requirements


Position Requirements:

  • This position requires one or more years of charge services experience utilizing Cerner or comparable Information Systems.
  • Experience working with Cerner Millennium Charge Service Tools in both the maintenance and design phases, including testing, training, design, and support.  
  • Experience working with Cerner PowerForms utilized for charge generation.  
  • An understanding of concepts like CDMs, CPT4, HCPCS, charge points, and how they work within Cerner and for specific Cerner “Nets.” 
  • An understanding of the tables used for Charge Services and how they relate between reference build and activity build.  An understanding of SQL or CCL (Cerner Command Language) to facilitate custom queries and reports for auditing purposes. 
  • Experience with Cerner Charge Transformation Tool and how charges can be revised in the tool. 
  • The ability to communicate effectively with clinicians and others to understand workflow and how it impacts Charge Services design.
  • Knowledge of computer systems analysis and Mid-Level programming techniques and procedures, including: consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications; design, development, documentation, analysis, testing, or modification of computer systems based on and related to user design specifications. 
  • Working knowledge of IS standards and quality methods and metrics. 
  • Knowledge of project management methods.  
  • General familiarity of user business practices, concepts and terminology sufficient to support the application. 
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite. 

Travel Requirements: Minimal - 25% domestic US travel at times (depending on projects).
