The Corporate IS Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Application Architect – Perioperative.

The Application Architect – Perioperative leads and coordinates multiple projects and team initiatives involving corporate IS and field resources. Works through the solution specific forums that govern application changes between the field and corporate.  Utilizes project management methodologies to develop and implement plans to solve problems or add features/ functions to the current clinical information systems.  Coordinates work assignments given in order to meet deadlines and ensures continued progress toward assignment completion. Shares experience and expertise by mentoring other members of team.  Supports Perioperative clinical applications. Relies on clinical expertise in Perioperative workflows to deliver resolutions to our facility IT and end users.  Functions well independently and in a team member capacity at all times. 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provides advanced design, development, implementation, maintenance, documentation, and support for UHS applications and systems.
  • Supports and implements new and existing integrations with various systems; ensuring optimal system performance in accordance with information systems methods and practices
  • Leads meetings with users and IS staff to develop/modify system specifications.
  • Leads design solutions for applications and prepares the appropriate documentation.
  • Researches and resolves implementation-related Customer Support Center Tickets.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to other team members as required.
  • Provides on call after hours support as required.
  • Experience with Cerner SurgiNet, Anesthesia, & CareNet (iView, PowerChart, Bridge, & FirstNet
Job Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • Five or more years of progressively more responsible Clinical Information Systems experience. Clinical experience as a Surgical RN or OR Technician is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of clinical system application design, development, implementation, enhancement, support methods and practices.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of clinical application analysis, design, build, deployment and modification as well as troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to work with end users to determine software specifications, hardware requirements and process improvement workflows.
  • Ability to create system documentation, project plans, test scripts and education materials.
  • Working knowledge of project management methodology, ITIL and IS standards, change control, quality and system performance methods and metrics.
  • General familiarity of end user business practices, concepts and terminology sufficient to support the applications.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal communication and documentation skills, among facility customers and team members.
  • Demonstrates customer-oriented service excellence principals, as outlined in UHS corporate standards. Working knowledge of healthcare applications. 
  • Expectation to lead software, process, reporting and education initiatives with internal corporate and hospital level resources specific to Perioperative Services (surgery & anesthesia). 


Off hours and on-call support is expected.


License or Registration Requirements: Acute Care Facility (Hospital) Perioperative Services & Project Management experience preferred.


Travel Requirements: 25% - 50% domestic US travel (depending on projects).
