Description:

Actuarial IT Support in Enterprise Services and Systems (ESS) leads in defining and implementing solutions to meet the technology needs of Prudential’s Actuarial functions. New International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) require many of Prudential’s international business to significantly invest in their local statutory reserve processes. We are seeking a senior development specialist with significant experience in various technologies such as JAVA, relational database, grid computing and cloud enabled solutions.

You will collaborate with the other ESS IT and functional owners to provide deep technology expertise to support Actuarial processes and systems, and seek opportunities to leverage ESS architecture components such as ETL, scheduler, data warehousing, calculation and reporting solutions in support of the
Actuarial process and information needs.

Key responsibilities:
You will be responsible for aligning the objectives of Prudential Insurance and its member countries with those of the Application Support team. You will lead in making technical decisions that manage business IT applications, partner with multiple teams within prudential and external Prudential vendors to support actuarial systems. This team will coordinate the prioritization of changes with the actuarial, finance and functional stakeholders, and execute these changes as required for large implementations and smaller business-as-usual changes.


  • Bachelors Degree required, preferably in Computer Science or related engineering discipline
  • 5 years of experience and strong knowledge in Core Java/J2EE and/or C# required
  • Hands on experience with SQL/NO SQL, database object modeling, performance tuning and data warehousing concepts (Oracle preferred)
  • Keeps up to date on emerging technologies
  • Unix/Linux shell scripting a plus
  • Understanding of agile development methodologies and test-driven development practices
  • Knowledge of design patterns, RESTful web services, XML required
  • Working knowledge of distributed systems (cloud/grid-based computing) and service oriented architectures
  • 5 years of experience in a financial services, insurance or actuarial organization preferred
  • Ability to work well in team and independently
  • Strong collaboration and oral/written communication skills
  • Career progression that demonstrates increasing levels of responsibility, achievement and expertise
  • Experience with one or more of the leading Actuarial modeling software vendor packages a plus
