Prudential El Paso is seeking a talented Application Security Engineer to join the Cyber Security Team who will support the implementation of a security framework for application security testing within Prudential.


The Application Security Engineer will act as an internal consultant embedding security into day to day activities of our development and DevOps teams.  In this role you will bring experience in cyber security and how it should be applied, in an application development context. You will possess a thorough knowledge of enterprise architectures, APIs, database technologies and an understanding of information flows within applications. You will have a working knowledge of micro-service architectures and how they might be deployed within a DevOps continuous delivery context.

Excellent understanding of web based design, web services, mobile security, SAST, DAST, and integration into CI/CD pipelines is required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Forensics, a related discipline or equivalent work experience required
  • Should hold relevant industrial security certifications
  • At least 5 years’ experience in an Application Security Testing environment, with a significant focus on mobile security
  • At least 2 years’ static application security testing, remove false positives and highlight remediation
  • Financial services and development experience would be an advantage
  • Proven record of designing and implementing training programs for application security testing
  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
  • The ability to work independently as well as perform as part of a team
  • A motivated, enthusiastic and flexible approach to work in an adapting fast moving environment
  • Can demonstrate strong performance ethos and deliver outstanding customer service
  • Ability to interface with both technical and non-technical application owners to discuss their vulnerabilities
  • Provide guidance to all parties for remediation of identified application vulnerabilities
  • Proven record of dealing with both staff and project related issues
  • Must be a key player within the team enhancing the skillset of all team members, providing mentoring as required
  • Strong knowledge of secure coding techniques
  • Security analysis aptitude
  • Experience of implementing secure coding practices
  • Strong knowledge both Static and Dynamic Application Security testing, including both web & mobile
  • Knowledge of iOS & Android development
  • Experience with MDM
  • Strong knowledge of methodologies such as OWASP, and standards such as PCI DSS
  • Strong knowledge in .NET, Java (J2EE), Node JS, Angular or other Web based technologies
  • Strong knowledge of tools used for Web & Mobile Application development
  • Knowledge of SQL, XML, SOAP, REST, AJAX, Python
  • Web application design and development experience
  • An understanding of DevOps and working in an Agile environment
  • Experience with security in a cloud environment. AWS preferably or other cloud technologies such as Azure
