Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking an Area General Manager for The Covenant Retirement Communities (CRC) The position entails 60%-70% travel and the candidate must reside near a major airport in the Chicagoland area, IL. Covenant is the 5th largest Continuing Care Retirement Community in the country with 15 locations over 10 states.

 

 Each unit is a CCRC with high end dining rooms/bistro The AGM will manage the 7 communities in the east located in the states of Illinois, Michigan, Florida, Connecticut and Minnesota. This position has direct oversight of 7 General Managers who oversee: Executive Chefs, Executive Dining Room Managers, and Registered Dieticians.

 

 

Senior Area General Manager Responsibilities include:

  • Manages 80+ employees and around $20 million in territory wide on an annual basis.
  • Integrate fully within our client's organization becoming a trusted advisor with a customer service focus.
  • Works to achieve company and client financial targets and goals.
  • Works to achieve high quality patient satisfaction scores.
  • Responsible for all Sodexo and client reporting.
  • Responsible for collaborating with the client on achieving annual operational projects and goals.
  • Ensures compliance to food safety, sanitation, and overall workplace safety standards.
  • Must meets (or exceed) Sodexo standards of operations.
  • Creates a positive environment and successfully motivates and manages team.

  • Strong overall operational understanding and experience of food service operations in a healthcare setting.
  • Previous leadership experience with proven ability to successfully manage a team.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • A passion for a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to successfully work and manage multiple priorities and projects.
  • Experience in developing strong customer relationships.
  • Strong attention to company policy, standards, and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of forecasting, food cost management, purchasing, inventory and labor management concepts.
  • Strong financial acumen, as well as strong computer literacy.
  • Knowledgeable in compliance to food safety (HACCP), sanitation and overall workplace safety standards.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment while fostering strong client and customer relationships.
  • Able to manage and execute multiple priorities, and manage multiple long-standing projects.
  • Candidates for this General Manager position should be Registered Dieticians, Certified Dietary Managers or have a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or a similar B.S. degree

Position Summary

Functions as the in-unit leader for multiple accounts and/or contracts within a defined geography. Single point of contact and/or client liaison in support of a multi-site.
Key Duties
- Monitors operations by planned and unplanned visits to each operating account of the system to plan projects, implement new processes, client interactions, and new technology to ensure sufficient resources.

-  Develops business plan and budget w/each account GM that supports the System and District goals – Reviews and analyzes financial statements and data and other financial information to ensure attainment of financial goals for both the client and Sodexo.

-  Central Point of Contact for Client Liaison promoting a solid business partnership - assists in contract negotiations for the system.

- Maintains Quality & Company Standards – reviews and maintains reports to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and Sodexo / System Client(s) policies and procedures.

- Responsible for system succession planning/employee development/diversity initiatives/training/constructive counseling. Promotes and supports workplace diversity initiatives.

- Provides strategic leadership to the respective units within the system to maintain client satisfaction and retention
 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree
Basic Management Experience - 5 years
Basic Functional Experience - 5 years
