What You'll Do

The High Speed Optics Team is developing subsystems for high-speed optical networking applications in Cisco’s optical transmission and routing products. The current product portfolio includes advanced 40Gbps, 100Gbps and 400Gbps coherent transponders for Metropolitan, Regional and Long Haul optical DWDM systems.

As an ASIC engineer for our location in Nuremberg you will bring into service and test high complex application specific IC. In your work you will prove and optimize the efficiency of digital signal processing algorithms in combinations with optical transmission impairments and design implementation limitations. You will be part of a bigger ecosystem, with counterparts in the US. Work closely with HW, SW across multiple disciplines and geographies. You will serve as subject matter expert during product bring-up and debugging

 

Who You'll Work With

High Speed Optics Department.

We focus on high speed, high performance optical system interfaces for cost-effective high-density system applications in Cisco differentiated by fulfilling specific Cisco requirements best.

We see our core competencies in digital signal processing (e.g. equalization) mixed signal design (e.g. converters and interfaces) detection algorithms (e.g. FEC) using advanced technology (e.g. optical and ASIC technologies).

 

Who You Are

You have experience in optical transmission systems and proven experience in leading ASIC bring up and test activities in all levels

Our requirements for this role:

- Master degree in electrical engineering

- Excellent know how in digital signal processing

- Strong technical foundation in optical networking

- Knowledge in modern modulation formats, forward error correction and signal processing algorithms

- Excellent troubleshooting capabilities

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills
