The Ridge Behavioral Health System is
seeking a dynamic and talented Assessment Support
Located in Lexington, KY,
the heart of the Bluegrass, The Ridge Behavioral Health
System offers a healing environment that is reassuring to a
patients’ sense of security and confidentiality. Dedicated to
excellence, The Ridge Behavioral Health System is accredited by
the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, as
a licensed, 110-bed hospital, providing psychiatric (mental health)
and chemical dependency (drug & alcohol rehabilitation) services
to children, adolescents and adults. Inpatient care is provided on a
24-hour basis, seven days a week. Outpatient and partial
hospitalization services are provided on a six-day per week basis,
days and evenings. Care is provided according to an established code
of ethical conduct and strict adherence to patient rights.

The Assessment Support
Specialist receives calls and unplanned individual/
family walk-ins with compassion, empathy, and a sense of service and
urgency. Thorough and accurate documentation of calls and other
Assessment related paperwork is a critical component of the job. To
perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
demonstrate competency with entering data, knowledge regarding
hospital programs and community referral sources, and excellent
customer service skills. The specifications listed below are
representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the
minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate
knowledge and skill in provision of services to varied population of
patients in an inpatient and outpatient hospital
Essential Responsibilities Include, But
Not Limited To:
- Performs clerical operations in adherence to

- Conducts prompt follow-up phone calls to
“No Show” patient appointments.
- Answers telephone professionally and promptly.
- Facilitates scheduling of appointments
congruent with needs and resources of caller.
- Refers callers to appropriate resources that
optimally meet caller’s needs.
- Demonstrates sufficient understanding of
services available in the community.
- Interacts professionally and effectively with
physicians and other clinical staff.
- Works professionally and effectively with
Business Office and Utilization Review staff.
- Interacts cooperatively with professional
liaisons, supporting the facility’s ongoing efforts.
- Interacts well with referral sources;
facilitates prompt communications in the best interest of the patient
and the facility’s operations.
- Demonstrates knowledge of programs &/or
unit services, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrates effective time management skills;
organizes work so that critical documents and tasks may be completed
promptly, accurately, and thoroughly.
- Documentation on Intake Call Sheets is
complete and correct in all areas.
- Documentation in AS400 is complete and correct
in all areas.
- Patient belongings are properly inventoried
- Documentation on Consent forms is complete and
correct in all areas.
Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or
Social Services field.
• Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention
experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in
an inpatient setting.
