UnitedHealthcare Advanced Research and Analytics (ARA) specializes in improving the performance of the health system by providing analytics, technology, and consulting services that enable better decisions and performance. In this role, you will oversee the solution architecture and direction and technology strategy of several Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning tool & technology developments. Leading several ARA teams & working with key business leaders to solve real-world business problems with data & technologies.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage teams that are both on and off shore

  • Architect, deploy, and manage integration business technology solutions and applications, analytical technology solutions. Leading the support process for offshore and onshore teams

  • Key focus on Big Data technologies & Analytics Technology to support our Data Science/Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning focus

  • Develop and manage technology solutions portfolios, and identifying new technology approaches to solve business problems with a strong focus on leveraging enterprise data. With focus on how to best support ARA users and effectively problem solve issues

  • Manage internal engagements, meeting project and deliverable timelines, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of deliverables

  • Collaborate with analytics practitioners, business analysts and methodologists to design and oversee the development of working prototypes of technical solutions

  • Driving capability builds & initiatives across our core capabilities, Data Engineering, Analytics Infrastructure Enablement, Software & Application Development, Hadoop & Analytics Proof of Concept Management

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics,  Theoretical Physics, Quantitative Social Sciences, Actuarial Science, or closely related field

  • 3+ years in advanced analytics, enterprise architecture, data warehousing, business intelligence, and / or software development

  • 2+ years of experience leading, managing or mentoring teams or direct reports

  • Beginner or higher level of proficiency with UNIX/LINUX

  • Beginner or higher level of proficiency with Hadoop or similar technologies

  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency in at least one programing language with demonstrated experience developing technical solutions; Java, C, .NET, SQL 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics,  Theoretical Physics, Quantitative Social Sciences, Actuarial Science or some other technology or analytic field

  • Demonstrated experience with analytical platform/data management platform integration

  • Experience with statistical software integration (e.g., SAS , SPSS, R, or Python)

  • Demonstrated experience with analytic tool planning, scaling, and administration

  • Previous experience with Teradata, Netezza, Greenplum, Aster Data, Vertica, Hadoop

  • Knowledge of NoSQL platforms (e.g., MongoDB, Couchbase, MarkLogic etc.)

  • Familiarity with visualization capabilities such as D3.JS and Tableau (and Tableau server) desired

  • Experience with advanced language/scripting (Python, Scala, Java)

  • Experience with healthcare data, specifically in Medicare and Medicaid analytics, provider and consumer analytics, and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) analytics

  • Experience with app development, analytical infrastructure development, and business solution consulting experience in the medical or pharmacy policy space, fraud-waste-abuse detection, marketing analytics and healthcare economics

  • Collaborate with analytics practitioners, business analysts and methodologists to lead process design and project implementation of technical solutions and processes

  • Ability to document and communicate complex technical concepts

  • Demonstrated time management and project management skills

  • Competency to convert research requirements to analytical specifications

  • Able to recognize technical and analytical problems and solution with minimal supervision
