Position Summary

Prudential Retirement is an industry leader in Stable Value, Pension Risk Transfer, Structured Settlements, and Total Retirement Solutions businesses. This position will offer pricing and product development responsibility for innovative retirement products. Working closely with other members of the retirement actuarial pricing team the role will also require collaboration with other functional areas and business partners such as Finance, Product, Sales & Distribution, and Corporate Actuarial.
This position will require the associate to drive innovation and solve problems by leading and influencing others through business challenges and obstacles. The associate should possess strong problem solving, mathematical, and analytical skills. In addition, the associate will collaborate with many internal partners. It is critical that the candidate has strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
This position will be based out of Hartford, CT.

Job Responsibilities


Support the pricing and financial analysis of innovative new product initiatives


Development of assumptions and pricing models for new products


Partner with domestic and potentially international businesses in developing new product concepts and retirement income solutions

Influencing product design, contract design, and risk management

Potential to support Total Retirement Solutions R&D activity


Potential to support Stable Value pricing and product development initiatives


Support periodic review of assumptions for use in pricing and the setting of required capital. Present recommendations and results of sensitivity tests to upper management, and communicate results with various stakeholders.


Assist in the development of documentation of operational rules, guidelines, and controls for the pricing and risk management of new products.

Qualifications and Experience

B.S./B.A. required
Associate of the Society of Actuaries designation (ASA) preferred, with 3 years of actuarial experience
Strong Microsoft Excel and VBA programming skills
Good research skills; ability to gather and distill information from internal and external sources in order to develop market insights, pricing assumptions and methodologies
At least 1 year of quantitative experience with insurance, annuity, retirement or investment products
Knowledge of economics and corporate finance preferred
Strong background in STAT or GAAP or experience with asset-liability modeling for Loss Recognition Testing or Asset Adequacy Testing is a plus
Experience with Capital, Tax, or Forecasting is a plus

Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including ability to solve complex problems
Self-motivated and driven to achieve tangible results
Effective at influencing others; ability to collaborate with a diversity of personalities and skill sets across actuarial teams and other functions of the business
