TITLE:            Associate Actuary (The Prudential Insurance Company of America – Newark, NJ)
 
DUTIES:         Run models to help evaluate accounting framework changes for STAT valuation and capital frameworks. Perform calculations and forecasts for tax reserves based on statutory valuation principles. Responsible for Statutory valuation for annuity products. Produce reserve and capital projections to support the Annuities quarterly forecasting process. Work with AG43 reserving regulation, and apply knowledge of reserving, Statutory and Capital frameworks including C3P2, RBC, or other economic capital framework for annuities to understand and explain reserve changes and trends. Use modeling platforms and Microsoft Excel including Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). Provide the necessary explanation and analysis of the forecasts for various internal stakeholders. Communicate actuarial risks and explain analyses on variable annuities to stakeholders and business partners. Support the development and implementation of enhancements to current forecasting methodology. Support the forecast redesign project for annuities. Execute test plans, and evaluate modeling results for accuracy and reasonability on forecasting models. Perform model validation and identify disconnects between modeled products, documentation and logic. Analyze model cash flows and explain the impacts of varying market assumptions to these cash flows. Assist with ad hoc analyses and projects.

REQTS:          Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Actuarial Science, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related quantitative field plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered, or as a Senior Actuarial Consultant, or a related position. Must have three (3) years of experience with: GAAP or Statutory valuation for annuity products; Working with AG43 reserving regulations, and applying knowledge of reserving for annuities to understand and explain reserve changes and trends; Using modeling platforms and Microsoft Excel including Visual Basic for Applications (VBA); Communicating actuarial risks and explaining analyses on variable annuities to stakeholders and business partners; Applying Statutory and Capital frameworks including C3P2, RBC, or other economic capital framework; Performing model validation and identify disconnects between modeled products, documentation and logic; and Analyzing model cash flows and explain the impacts of varying market assumptions to these cash flows. Must have passed four (4) Society of Actuaries Actuarial exams.
