Position Summary

The Associate Analyst reports to the Associate Operations Manager Transportation. This role focuses on driving medium-to long term improvements within On-Time and Accurate Delivery for Outbound Transportation. Functions of the role include analyzing carrier performance, supporting compliance, partnering with business partners to enhance lead time, and optimizing Walmart's future transportation initatives.

The Transportation Team is responsible for driving the final-mile experience for customers. The successful candidate will be an individual who has the ability to identify and support strategic improvement initiatives for On-Time and Accurate Delivery, while being able to dive deep into areas of opportunity and develop solutions as needed. This person will work cross-functionally with multiple technical and operational teams within the Supply Chain organization. Superior analytics and modeling skills are a must, and will be required in order to continuously improve On-Time and Accurate Delivery initiatives.

Position Description

  • Demonstrates up-to-date expertise in operational data analysis and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans

  • Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity

  • Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions

  • Solves complex operational and financial problems/issues

  • Supports and executes complex and multi-variable recurring and ad-hoc requests for data or data set-up


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or STEM related fields, and 1-2 years of relevant work experience

  • Master’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or STEM related fields

  • Required experience: 1+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or in a business analyst capacity.

  • Preferred experience: 2+ years of data management experience, including query development, root-cause analysis, and dashboard optimization

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Generate analysis, presentations, and recommendations to drive operational improvements in On-Time and Accurate Delivery.

  • Identify areas of opportunity to mitigate supply chain inefficiencies through the development and upkeep of operational tools and reports.

  • Troubleshoot data issues and work with internal business partners to derive and build customized reports to investigate opportunities.

  • Build and sustain cross-functional relationships with external business partners to best leverage assets for performance improvements.

  • Mature, refine, and report on KPIs to effectively manage facility and carrier performance.

    Functional Competencies:

  • Required mastered skills: MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint, SQL, and database mining knowledge.

  • Preferred skills: VBA, Python, R, C++, Tableau, MS-Access.

  • Manages multiple projects at once while ensuring deadlines are met and data output is accurate.

  • Utilizes macro skills to build scalable processes and drive automation of daily tasks.

  • Ensures integrity and efficiency of reports and data.

  • Proven experience leading data driven projects from definition through interpretation and execution stages.

    Interpersonal Competencies:

  • Capacity to communicate complex concepts in easy-to-understand terminology.

  • Effective communication skills to reach multiple levels of the organization, including senior management and cross-functional groups.
