What you'll do at

Position: Associate Data Scientist

Job Location: Bentonville, AR

Duties: Presents data insights and recommendations to key stakeholders by developing insights based on data analysis; ing analytical results to project goals; identifying trends and key insights; determining key insights that require additional analysis; translating results into business actions; and presenting insights and recommendations to key stakeholders. Manages the continuous improvement of data science and analytics by researching industry best practices and staying up-to-date on analytical practices; evaluating and recommending vendor products and services; integrating third-party solutions into current processes; developing and recommending best practices for the retail industry; and mentoring peers and analysts across the division in analytical best practices. Develops analytical models to drive analytic insights by directing the gathering of data; assessing data validity and usability; synthesizing data into large datasets; ensuring data is applicable to project goals; developing statistical models and algorithms to analyze data; utilizing analytics project lifecycle approach to drive the development of advanced analytics modeling (for example, predictive modeling); coding, testing, and maintaining analytical software tools; identifying trends, patterns, and discrepancies in data; determining additional data needed to support insights; training statistical models for replication for future projects; translating results into actionable insights; and presenting results, insights and recommendations to key stakeholders. Leads small and participates in large data analytics project teams by serving as the technical lead for project teams; working with business partners to interpret project goals into data analytic models; determining root cause of business problems; developing contingency plans for data analysis; designing data collection tools to conduct primary research to answer business initiatives; developing timelines for project execution; directing the analysis of data; gathering data and developing reports as needed; utilizing business knowledge to ensure data supports project goals; analyzing data based on identified variables; reviewing data results to ensure accuracy; and communicating results and insights to the project team and business partners.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field and 5 years experience in analytics or related field. In lieu of a Master’s degree and 5 years experience, employer will accept a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field and 7 years experience in analytics or related field.

Skills required: Must have experience with: parametric modelling; statistical hypothesis testing; regression analysis; machine learning, including logistic regression, neural networks, random forests, and decision trees (Binary and CART); clustering, including K-Means, density, nearest neighbor, distance and hierarchical clustering; linear and integer programming in convex and concave solutions spaces; supply chain forecasting; ARIMA; Bayesian time series forecasting; fourier analysis; Python; R; Weka; SAS; Hadoop; MySQL; Teradata; DB2; Cassandra; Hive and Pig; HTML; XML; Tableau; and D3JS. Employer will accept any amount of professional experience with the required skills.
