Description Physician Scientists function as a key member of PfIRe lab project teams composed of biomedical engineers, biologists and computational scientists. The mission of the PfIRe Lab is to support the creation of a digital therapeutic pipeline using dynamical measures of human behavior and physiology developed from advanced-STEM platforms and a collaborative network of internal and external stakeholders. The Physician Scientist will contribute deep knowledge of medicine, human physiology and importantly, the patient's perspective to each project. This position requires an engaged thinker with a scientific approach to problem solving, significant hands-on medical experience, an understanding of the challenges of clinical drug trials and an appreciation of novel medically relevant technologies. The successful candidate should see the clinic as a laboratory.

Basic Qualifications

+ MD or MD/PhD with 5+ years' experience including postgraduate medical training and board certification in a medical discipline.

+ Demonstrated understanding of the biopharmaceutical environment and the drug development process, with a passion for improving clinical trial design and methodology.

+ Excellent organizational, analytical, strategic, interpersonal, written and oral skills.

+ Self-motivated and flexible with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, problem-solving environment

+ Demonstrated strength in influencing and negotiation skills and ability to communicate effectively at all stages of the discovery pipeline.

+ Reports to Head of the Advanced Science Group in the Pfizer Innovation Research (PfIRe) Lab.

+ Functions at the individual project team level as either a team leader or scientific contributor with deep medical expertise capable of providing disease, diagnostic, patient and treatment relevant knowledge across the spectrum of the portfolio.

+ Contributes to the design of human methodology studies in both healthy volunteers and patients for the characterization and/or validation of novel technologies and medical devices.

+ Provides connectivity to relevant elements of the local Boston-Cambridge medical-academic community.

+ Provides insight on appropriate patient population for methodology studies.

+ Flexible in supporting a dynamic research portfolio.
