The Associate Director, Mergers and Acquisitions will be responsible for managing and completing real estate due diligence and integrations to support UnitedHealth Group’s strategic merger and acquisition growth.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage merger and acquisition real estate pipeline

  • Provide customer relationship management across business segments specifically supporting UnitedHealth Group, Optum and UnitedHealthcare Corporate Development and Legal teams

  • Complete real estate due diligence review of Target Company including lease analysis, site assessments, and real estate operations

  • Identify potential real estate risk, immediate needs, and opportunities

  • Identify and drive value for UnitedHealth Group

  • Provide governance and oversight to the functions supporting due diligence and integration

  • Coordinate and manage alliance partner support, performance and activities

  • Work across the Real Estate Services team including collaboration with Portfolio Management, Portfolio Services, Portfolio Operations and Portfolio Finance to plan for transitioning newly acquired companies real estate into the RES shared services model

  • Interact and collaborate with other UnitedHealth Group, UnitedHealthcare, and Optum departments to provide due diligence and integration support of newly acquired companies

  • Align merger and acquisition activity with business drivers and requirements to drive portfolio planning and capital management at an enterprise level as well as identifying operating expenses to reflect planned service levels

  • Develop metrics-based management and reporting to manage and measure effectiveness of acquisition due diligence and integration functions

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Legal Studies, Pre-Law, Engineering, Project Management or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years of commercial real estate or legal experience including experience with mergers and/or acquisitions

  • Experience working in a dynamic and matrix-oriented environment

  • Strong financial discipline and analytical approach to problem solving

  • Proficiency in ing sound financial principles to drive disciplined fact-based decisions

  • Experience with purchasing, negotiations, and contract management

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business or Legal degree

  • Six Sigma experience, training, and/or certification

  • Experience with mergers and/or acquisitions in patient facing facilities
