Description:

  • Provide financial leadership to the Global R&D Category team, directly supporting senior executives (up to SVP)
  • Lead financial analysis, planning and reporting processes across the R&D Category (total budget ~$180MM spread across all Sectors)
  • Partner with R&D Finance counterparts across all Sectors to manage R&D costs across the Sector P&L's
  • Act as primary business partner to R&D Category leadership including; providing financial updates and insights on R&D budget, identifying risks, opportunities and long-term strategies to improve efficiency and informing trade-off decisions across the team
  • Manage a complex funding model across all Divisions and Regions and provide creative solutions to simplify the funding process
  • Manage period/monthly forecast process including direct accountability for all costs on Corp/Sector ledgers including providing accurate forecasting, variance analysis and reporting
  • Manage a capital budget of ~$10MM working with the R&D team to prioritize projects, forecast spending and ensure all required accounting and approval processes are followed
  • Lead and optimize internal control activities including approving SOW's, CAR's and purchase orders and providing training and counsel to the R&D team on proper control process/activities
  • Lead the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) process for R&D Category
  • Support ad hoc projects as requested

This role has the potential to be located in Purchase or Valhalla.

  • Experience with Annual Planning, Forecasting and Budgeting
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate analytical findings into actionable solutions and processes
  • Ability to function effectively in a team environment and gain the cooperation of individuals across the organization
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of management
  • Experience working in a matrixed global business environment
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Results-oriented with ability to initiate and lead projects to completion
  • Innovative thinker with a focus on continuous process improvement
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (financial modeling) and PowerPoint with the ability to quickly learn various in-house software applications (SAP experience preferred)
  • Minimal travel required
