The Individual Life Assumption Analysis Group has an opening for a highly motivated Associate Manager to contribute to the success of our team. The primary responsibility of our group is the development of financial and actuarial assumptions used for a variety of business purposes including the pricing of new products, financial reporting and forecasting, asset adequacy testing and meeting other regulatory and reporting requirements. The Group is also responsible for the establishment of interest related non-guaranteed elements such as interest crediting rates for interest sensitive life insurance products.  In addition, the group performs analyses to support special projects.
This position may be located in Newark, New Jersey or Hartford, Connecticut.
Primary responsibilities of this position may include:
  • Development of assumptions for new business expenses such as underwriting, medical testing and commissions
  • Development of assumptions related to inforce policies such as overhead and maintenance costs
  • Determination of expense allocation rules to product and legal entity for financial reporting purposes
  • Calculation and forecasting of interest crediting rates and loan interest rates
  • Development of policy count projections
  • Development of policyholder behavior assumptions
  • Significant collaboration with Finance and Actuarial


  • B.A. / B.S. required - preferably in mathematics, business, finance, or related field
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong oral and writing communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and flexible
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and partnering skills
  • Knowledge of life insurance products is a plus
  • Knowledge of Smart View or MS Access is a plus
