Position Title: Associate Manager, Actuarial (Group Insurance ~ Business Analytics/Forecasting)

Job Location: New Jersey-Roseland
The Business Analytics & Forecasting team within the Group Insurance Actuarial team is responsible for ongoing rigorous and insightful analysis of Group Life and Disability products and for rating tool ownership/development support of the group products. It is expected that this person will apply analytical research and thought leadership towards connecting business and risk dynamics to operational outcomes and financial results. The role combines technical focus and business understanding, and is an excellent opportunity to learn the ever-evolving group business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide analysis to support conclusions using data mining, actuarial techniques  and sound business judgment
  • Partnering with Disability Claims Management team to support production and written narrative for claim metrics and operational analysis.
  • Loss ratio, incidence and risk reporting and analysis.
  • Partnering with Underwriting, Pricing Actuaries to support existing rating tools while developing an understanding of pricing methodologies
  • Perform regression and baseline testing of existing rating tools
  • Support ad-hoc requests for data analysis and pricing sensitivity
  • Provide QA testing of newly implemented enterprise rating system (PRIME)
  • Provide data and analytical support to demographic and econometric analysis, and with industry surveys and pricing comparisons

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-6 years relevant experience with insurance products
  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel including VBA, SQL and MS Access
  • Excellent ability to communicate technical details to non-technical partners
  • Previous or ongoing experience with actuarial exams
  • Approach work with intellectual curiosity and transparency with an openness to giving and receiving feedback
  • Selfmotivated, proactive, thinking beyond functional responsibilities to broader business strategy
  • Highly organized, collaborative, creative, and adept at handling multiple, changing priorities where creative solutioning is required
  • Skilled at resolving conflict and negotiating effectively and tactfully
  • Proven strong attention to detail and followthrough skills
  • Ability to effectively manage several dissimilar projects and prioritize.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
