Description

The Associate Software Engineer Intern is responsible for assisting in designing, developing and implementing programs, processes, or systems, as required, to support the technical capabilities within Cox Automotive Media applications. To be successful in this role one must be able to work effectively in a fluid, fast-paced environment. This role requires good team communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Develop new or maintain existing code functionality based on specifications
  • Develop, implement and maintain unit tests
  • Participate in functional test planning and testing for all product applications, functional areas or projects
  • Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the assigned application, functional area or project
  • Share knowledge by effectively documenting work
  • Gain a working knowledge of all product applications, functional areas or projects

Qualifications

  • Have experience doing hands-on development using the Java and J2EE technologies
  • Understanding of object-oriented design and implementation
  • Understanding and experience with user interface design patterns, visual design elements, web technologies, and development methodologies.
  • Possess basic project management skills to track all project work.
  • Overall able to use best practice tools, build tools and scripting
  • Experience in the various Agile project lifecycle processes
  • Pursuing Bachelor’s, advanced degree or equivalent industry experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience using version control and defect tracking tools (Subversion, Git, Quality Center, etc).
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in the following technologies:
  • Java 7, J2EE (EJB, JNDI, JSP, Servlets, RMI),  Web Frameworks (JSF), UI frameworks (React, Bootstrap, etc.), Unit testing(JUnit, TestNG, Mockito), PL/SQL / JDBC, Apache and Apache Tomcat web servers, UNIX (Solaris, etc), JBOSS, IDE (Eclipse, NetBeans, IntelliJ IDEA, EMACS, VIM), HTML, DHTML, XSLT, XML, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX, Web Services, Clover, Jalopy, PMD, Checkstyle, Shell Scripting, Perl
