Primary Responsibilities:

  • Advise & directs various internal/external personnel in the handling of accounts in commercial bankruptcy
  • Respond to specific inquiries regarding potential new customer filings and educate as to the risks associated with conducting business with bankrupt customers
  • Review incoming mail/email correspondence from UHC & business partners in order to confirm/deny a commercial filing
  • Filters and gathers all Bankruptcy filing notices, dismissals, pleadings and documentation related to commercial bankruptcies and responds accordingly
  • Notifies and collaborates with internal segments once a filing is discovered Review and Summarize bankrupt customer's online court docket report
  • Requests supportive documentation from assigned Billing/Banking Analyst to determine pre/post-petition debt and file a Proof of Claim for pre-petition if applicable – while adhering to filing deadlines
  • Process pre-petition write-offs as appropriate
  • Works directly with account management, billing analysts, internal/external counsel, trustees and customers to resolve delinquent bankrupt accounts
  • Aggressively defends preference actions filed against UHC and its subsidiaries upon notification. Notify and inform related entities of the action and the strategy for handling said matter
  • Notify and request representation from outside counsel and provide all supportive documentation timely in order to ensure successful defense and settlement of a preference action
  • Manage, monitor and distribute monthly bankruptcy reports regarding UHC’s and related segment’s active, cancelled and potential bankrupt accounts
  • Suggest and provide alternate solutions to bankrupt customers as well as internal/external fields for total account resolution/customer satisfaction


Required Qualifications:

  • Certified Paralegal
  • 2+ years of commercial bankruptcy experience
  • Preferable experience in a law office environment
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Access and Excel

  • Strong bankruptcy law knowledge
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Maintain composure, effectiveness and professionalism under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and processes across multiple locations
  • Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to interface and communicate with all levels of internal/external customers in order to build relationships and address sensitive bankruptcy matters
  • Ability to working proactively in an ever changing environment
  • Acts as a resource for others with less experience
