As a Behavioral Health Care Advocate you will be responsible for information, referral, crisis intervention, and Psychiatric assessment of San Diego County mental health and drug / alcohol consumers through telephonic review; certify and authorize appropriate levels of care.  Also responsible for entering accurate relevant data and clinical information into electronic databases.

***This is 34 hours a week. Saturday 6:30AM - 5:00PM, Sunday 10:30 PM - 7:00AM, and Monday 10:30PM - 7:00AM***

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide crisis intervention for county consumers.  Conduct psychiatric and drug / alcohol clinical screenings, referrals for psychiatric treatment, referrals for alcohol / drug services, and provide authorization for inpatient and outpatient treatment requests for Medi - Cal insured consumers
  • Facilitate enrollment of consumers to programs or provider agencies; provide information referrals; perform provider profiling activities
  • Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and in - service opportunities
  • Use computerized database to support management of care and benefits
  • Assist with problem resolution as needed
  • Participate in CQI activities; as directed by supervisor
  • Requires access to the following electronic applications which include Protected Health Information
  • Adheres to pertinent HIPAA rules and regulations
