As a Substance Use Care Advocate you will be responsible for case management and utilization review of behavioral health and substance abuse cases. You'll have a direct impact on the lives of our members as you recommend and manage the appropriate level of care throughout the entire treatment plan.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review patient assessments and determine appropriate levels of care

  • Focus on initial inpatient assessment/admission criteria for chemical dependency patients

  • Obtain and review information from referring providers on outpatient requests for treatment

  • Determine if additional clinical information for initial/ongoing treatment is needed

  • Work closely with networked providers in the delivery of quality and effective substance abuse services

  • Manage inpatient and outpatient substance use cases throughout the entire treatment plan

  • Administer benefits and review treatment plans

  • Coordinate benefits and transitions between various areas of care

  • Identify ways to add value to treatment plans through consulting with facility staff or outpatient care providers


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher level of education

  • Chemical Dependency Professional (CDP) in State of Washington

  • 2+ years experience in a behavioral health / mental health environment

  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Ability to use various computer applications and move through computer screens while speaking with members on telephone

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters’ Degree or higher level of education

  • Independent Clinical Mental Health License

  • Experience in an inpatient setting

  • Previous experience in a Managed Care environment

  • Experience working in an environment that required coordination of benefits and utilization of multiple groups and resources for patients

  • Previous experience in a telephonic, office based role

  • Experience with the Medicaid patient population
