Cedar Hills Hospital - located just 15 minutes from downtown Portland - is an 89-bed, free-standing psychiatric hospital specializing in mental health and chemical dependency care. We provide a wide range of services and programs that offer evidence-based treatment proven to have positive outcomes for our patients. Our inpatient and outpatient services offer supportive and compassionate care through specialty programs that are tailored to meet the needs of our patients.

The Medical Coding Health Management Services position must maintain a current coding credential in order to analyze health information records, and assign appropriate ICD-10 CM/CPT codes for medical diagnoses and procedures. Assists program manager and central business office in confirming/correcting the types of services provided to Cedar Hills Hospital patients. Ensures the confidentiality of patients' personal information, performs clerical duties that may including answering the telephone, greeting employees, and sorting physician dictation reports daily. Entering patient information into computer files, analyzing, and assembling patient records.

Job Requirements

Education: High school graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience. AAPC or AHIMA certification. RHIT preferred.

Experience: One year experience with knowledge of medical records coding and medical terminology and an understanding of the clinical information environment.

Training: Crisis Management and Service Excellence training must occur within 60 days of employment and prior to assisting in any restraining procedures. May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.

Additional Requirements: Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of computer proficiency and work processing: ICD-9-CM coding experience preferred.
