Northern Nevada Medical Center is a 108-bed acute care hospital located on 23 hillside acres in Sparks, Nevada. Position Summary: Responsible for comprehensive assessment of persons (persons 50 years of age and older) whose lives are disrupted or complicated by mental illness, behavioral disturbances, substance abuse issues or inability to function or maintain in the community. Conduct individual, family, couple and group treatment as deemed appropriate by multidisciplinary team. Maintain appropriate documentation including assessments, therapy notes, monthly treatment plans, and additional documentation deemed necessary by hospital and/or insurance policy. Assist in preauthorization and utilization review for patients with third party payer sources. Assists law enforcement, family members and others with the admission process, both voluntary and emergency detentions. Makes referrals to community resources as appropriate. Assigns persons in need of treatment to the appropriate outpatient program and coordinates inpatient admissions through consultation and with inpatient staff and/or the medical staff for non-psychiatric admissions. The Licensed Therapist is expected to function as a member of the multidisciplinary team, assist in the everyday running of the outpatient program and participate in the organization’s community relations program. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
  •  Master’s Degree in a mental health related field.
  •  Current state licensure as a MFT or LCSW.
  •  Minimum 2 years exp in an outpatient mental health setting.
  •  Current BLS certificate within 30 days from hire.
