Calvary Addiction Recovery center is a 68-bed treatment center for drug and alcohol use disorders.  Founded in 1964 Calvary has been a stable treatment center in Phoenix for over 50 years.  Calvary offers around the clock nursing care for medical detox as well as a 30-day residential program based on the 12-steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.  In addition to individual and group counseling, patients attend daily lectures and adjuvant therapies such as the Japanese Friendship Garden, Equine Therapy, Auricular Acupuncture, Boot Camp and other activities.

The Behavioral Health Technician plays a vital role as part of the Calvary team.  BHTs work closely with nurses and Therapists to coordinate care for our patients.  Patients are under the care of an MD who specializes in addiction, a Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatrist.  There is a physician on site or on call 24/7.

BHT's duties include providing, coordinating, and evaluating patient care through collaborative efforts, with health team members, in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices.

We are currently seeking Behavioral Health Technicians to deliver quality care to patients with substance use disorder.  The BHT is to serve actively and constructively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, supporting the organization and program philosophy of care to ensure the safety and well-being of each patient.

Job Requirements
  1. Monitor patients and participate in treatment planning by helping to identify patients’ problems, needs and strengths, reporting areas of concern regarding any patient’s mental or physical status to the Nurse, through verbal report and written progress notes.
  2. Orients patients to the unit and facility with emphasis on procedures and standard practices including personal and belongings search.
  3. Accompanies and actively supervises patients in activities of daily living, appointments, and recreational activities that occur both on and off the living unit and ensure resident’s safety and security.
  4. Provides support, guidance, direction and counseling to the residents in addition to functioning as a role model.
  5. Assures a safe, secure, nurturing, clean, and supportive environment for both residents and staff.
  6. Protects client rights by providing treatment that promotes clients dignity, independence, individuality, strengths and privacy.
  7. Provides hands-on physical care, supervision, crisis intervention, behavior management, and behavior modification as directed by the individual treatment plan and unit program guidelines.
  8. Maintains professional demeanor in dress, attitude, support of unit milieu, and facility mission and philosophy
  9. Provide routine monitoring and documentation on the observation flow sheet to ensure precaution protocols are followed, and encourage patients to actively participate in all program activities and remain safe.
  10. Record and maintain patient, program, department and related documentation ensuring that forms are properly and promptly completed and filed.
  11. Provide general nursing assistance, appropriate to patients’ unique needs, including age, and as assigned and supervised by the nurse.
  12. Carry out clerical and administrative assignment to support patient care and department operations, including taking and routing of phone messages.
  13. Support facility internal and external customer service standards.
  14. Follow Calvary Center Inc. Time and Attendance policy.
  15. Will adhere to all facility and UHS corporate policies and procedures.
