Positions in this function includes managing incoming calls, managing requests for services from members, providing information on available network services and transferring members as appropriate to clinical staff. Manages the referrals process, processes incoming and outgoing referrals, and authorizations. This function includes intake, notification and census roles.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Ensures quality for internal and external customers.
  • Responds to incoming calls for request, both verbal and written.
  • Identifies and assesses customers’ needs quickly and accurately.
  • Solves problems systematically, using sound business judgment.
  • Places outgoing phone calls to complete follow-up on requests as necessary.
  • Consistently meets established productivity, schedule adherence, and quality standards.
  • Work is frequently completed without established procedures.
  • Works independently.
  • May act as a resource for others.
  • May coordinate others’ activities.
  • Answering phone calls from members and providers.
  • Supporting care managers by performing various administrative tasks.
  • Processing eligibility paperwork.
  • Ensuring patient information is documented accurately.
  • Setting up services for members.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma / GED required
  • 1+ years of experience in a health care customer service setting using a telephone and computer as the primary instruments to perform job duties
  • Bilingual Spanish and English
  • Proficiency within Microsoft Word (creating and editing documents)
  • Proficiency within Microsoft Excel (filter, sort, create and edit spreadsheets)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Healthcare or Insurance Benefits experience
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology / Coding (ICD-9 and CPT)
  • Experience in a Hospital, physician, or medical clinical environment
  • Knowledge of Medicare and / or Medicaid
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Frequent speaking, listening using a headset, sitting, use of hands / fingers across keyboard or mouse, handling other objects, long periods working at a computer
  • Service center environment with moderate noise level due to Representatives talking, computers, printers, and floor activity
