Manatee Memorial Hospital, a 319-bed acute care facility is located on the banks of the Manatee River in Bradenton, Florida. The hospital has been a major provider of quality healthcare in the Tampa Bay Region since 1953. Manatee Memorial Hospital has a medical staff of over 500 physicians and the only residency program in the county. The spectacular four-story patient tower welcomes visitors as they cross over the bridge from Palmetto to Bradenton. The hospital offers a comprehensive range of medical services, including 24-hour emergency services, cardiac, cardiovascular, surgery, outpatient services, women’s and children’s services and orthopedic services, in addition to specialty programs in chest pain, a primary stroke center and the only pediatric center and Level ll Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the county. Manatee Memorial Hospital currently has a Billing Clerk for Manatee Diagnostics Center  position available. The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:

General Summary: Billing position responsible for coordinating the overall functions of the billing office to ensure maximization of cash flow while improving patient, physician, and other customer relations.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. directs registration, patient insurance, billing and collections, and data processing to ensure accurate patient billing and efficient account collection.
2. Works with the billing office within the established budget, including annual planning, and develops monthly status reports.
3. Reviews current status of patient accounts to identify and resolve billing and processing problems in a timely manner.
4. Works with the collection of delinquent accounts ensuring third-party payers are contacted.
5. Communicates and enforces practice financial policies.
6. Maintains contacts with medical records and other departments to obtain and analyze additional patient information to document and process billings.
7. Works with information technology to ensure timely and accurate implementation.

 
Requirements

Ther following are the job requirements for the position:

Experience: Minimum three years of experience in a medical billing office, 
Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:
1. Knowledge of  basic accounting principles to direct the billing office.
2. Strong knowledge of CPT & ICD9 coding.
3. Sufficient knowledge of policies and procedures to accurately answer questions from internal and external customers.
4. Broad-based knowledge of relevant insurance regulations and familiarity with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

Skills:
1. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients, organizations, and the public.
2. Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of tasks concurrently to meet deadlines.
3. Strong PC skills (PMS/EHR)
4. Responsive to management direction.

Abilities:
1. Ability to communicate in writing, over the telephone, and in person with office staff and insurance representatives.
2. Ability to recognize, evaluate, solve problems, and correct errors. 
Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
