This function is responsible for medical and ancillary product premium billing. Positions in this function interact with customers gathering support data to ensure invoice accuracy and also work through specific billing discrepancies. Provide input to policies, systems, methods, and procedures for the effective management and control of the premium billing function. Educate customers regarding the availability of receiving invoices and remitting payments through online applications. Monitor outstanding balances and take appropriate actions to ensure clients pay as billed. Manage the preparation of invoices and complete reconciliation of billing with accounts receivables. May also include quality assurance and audit of billing activities.The Billing Representative will be responsible for the preparation and billing of medical and pharmacy claims for home infusion therapy services.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Will create and submit secondary medical claims in a timely manner
  • The representative will follow up aged unpaid claims via phone, correspondence, web to the following payer types- that include but are not limited to: government agencies, third party payers, hospitals, physicians, and patients / guarantors
  • Continue collection activity until account is resolved / Identifies issues / trends and escalates to Manager when assistance is needed
  • Billing representatives must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Provides exceptional Customer service to internal and external customers
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local governments, third party contracts, and company policies
  • Interact with customers gathering support data to ensure invoice accuracy and also work through specific billing discrepancies

  • Prior experience creating Medicare invoices for billing as well as collection functions will be advantageous
  • Moderate work experience within own function
  • Some work is completed without established procedures
  • Basic tasks are completed without review by others
  • Supervision / guidance is required for higher level tasks
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of experience in the medical field
  • Experience with Medical billing or claims
  • Experience with Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook (create, edit, send emails and update calendar), Microsoft Word (create and edit), and Microsoft Excel (create, edit, formulas and filtering)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree (or higher) in Business or Accounting
  • 2+ years of customer service experience analyzing and solving customer problems
  • 1+ years of experience with Medicare billing or claims
  • 1+ years of AR collections / Follow Up experience
  • Bilingual fluency with English and Spanish
Soft Skills:
  • Prior stable work experience
  • Ability to navigate a computer while on the phone
  • Ability to multi-task, this includes ability to understand multiple products and multiple levels of benefits within each product
  • Ability to remain focused and productive each day though tasks may be repetitive
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Frequent speaking, listening using a headset, sitting, use of hands / fingers across keyboard or mouse, handling other objects, long periods working at a computer
  • Service center environment with moderate noise level due to Representatives talking, computers, printers, and floor activity
