Biomedical Equipment Technician - San Antonio, TX (738554)

Position Description

Supports Medical Equipment Manager and Medical Equipment Management Plan by working with clinics and biomedical vendors to ensure proper maintenance, inspection, and testing of medical equipment / devices.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitors the computerized maintenance management system (such as ServiceNow) to ensure work requests related to biomedical equipment needs assigned are completed per SLA

  • Coordinates delivery process for new equipment so that biomedical vendors are dispatched to service equipment in a timely manner

  • Responds to telephone calls and e-mails for facilities support (with regard to biomedical equipment issues / concerns), ensuring steady communication with customers.  Escalates issues to management when necessary

  • Orders materials and services when needed, obtaining appropriate approvals when necessary

  • Monitors performance of service providers and material suppliers.  Participates in performance improvement and re-sourcing activities where applicable

  • Proactively nurtures positive relationships with Project Coordinators, IT, and Integrations teams

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Biomedical Technology or equivalent in military or experience (2 additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of an Associate's Degree)

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment

  • Current driver’s license

  • Access to reliable transportation

  • Intermediate computer skills to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Ability to prioritize and organize work orders
  • Ability and willingness to work irregular hours on occasion
  • Ability and willingness to travel (25%)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to push or pull heavy objects using up to 50 pounds of force
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use fine motor skills to operate office equipment and/or machinery
  • Ability to properly drive and operate a company vehicle
  • Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writing
  • Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ServiceNow application
