Position Summary

The Business Analyst provides support for all patient accounting and billing services.  The Business Analyst performs complex systems analyses related to one or more functional areas, spreadsheets and related management reporting and identifies performance improvement opportunities.  This position involves some problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and procedures

Job Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform a variety of financial analyses and reports, research and resolve complex financial account in conjunction with the accounting department.
Perform audits of facility-level data entry for treatment, physician and incidental charges, accuracy of payment and adjustment posting, private pay accounts receivable, unapplied funds, credit balances, benefits, etc.
Maximize the use of internal systems to enhance workflow and improve productivity.
Assist in the preparation and delivery of status reports and other monthly activity reports.
Oversees the current status of billing and assists in identifying and resolving billing and processing problems and discrepancies.
Assist with Month End and Year End close as needed.
Understands billing requirements for contracted and commercial payers.
Assist and/or perform special projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrates professional behavior reflective of FRN’s Mission Statement, Philosophy and Values.
Actively demonstrates a dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements from internal and external customers.
Must be able to accurately produce work which requires continual attention to detail.
Advanced working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, email and databases preferably within the Microsoft Office Suite and ability to utilize computer technology for communication, data gathering and reporting activities.
Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.  Must be able to interpret data and solve problems, effectively handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Must have excellent customer service skills including the ability to work with diverse populations.  Must have demonstrated ability to remain calm and professional in all conditions.
Understands commercial compliance regulations related to healthcare billing and accounts receivable management and where to locate the regulations.
Demonstrates understanding of both UB04 claim form, CMS 1500 claim form and Explanation of Benefits.
Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices
Demonstrates ability to work effectively with and interact with patients and co-workers in a professional, caring and courteous manner that adheres to FRN’s Mission and Statement of Values.
Understands and maintains confidentiality at all times.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED
Minimum of two years of medical collection experience

Must have proficient knowledge of computer programs and spreadsheets (Excel).
Strong analytical skills – must be able to analyze data and formulate strategies to improve performance.
Ability to work independently
Ability to communicate verbally and through written documentation
Good organizational skills and detail oriented.
