As a Business Analyst you will play a highly visible and key role in evaluating the core aspects of our business. You will measure it, think about it, and inform the business on how we can improve it. You will be responsible for every step in the analytic process.
You Will
  • Work closely with leaders and subject matter experts across the organization to figure out the scope and breadth of the business question at hand
  • Decide what data is needed
  • Gather and structure that data

  • Work with the business to execute the necessary changes
  • Help design the reporting needed to track the results
  • Improve operational effectiveness and efficiency through detailed analysis based on internal data
We are looking for an Analyst who will be comfortable working closely with business teams but also dealing with complex numerical analysis. A successful candidate will become an integral part of the business teams and play a key role in helping them analyze and plan their business. Having a comprehensive understanding of their business and how insights can influence decisions will be critical.
The Business Analyst role collaborates with other organizations across Cisco and uses analytics skills to solve business problems and to deliver insights that enable operational decision making. This role receives general direction and guidance from management but is expected to exercise sound judgement within defined procedures and practices in selecting analysis methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to determine appropriate action.
The ideal candidate must be intellectually curious about how everything ties together to run our business and be a self-starter with a strong sense of initiative.  A great Business Analyst is passionate about digging into the data and making recommendations to have a positive impact on our business.
What You'll Do
The Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Work to improve knowledge of the Cisco Services offers, business processes and demonstrate a detail-oriented yet broad understanding of corporate objectives (i.e. “able to see the forest from the trees”)
  • Establish credibility at all levels within the organization and build problem-solving partnerships with colleagues world-wide.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to identifying and analyze areas for improvement within the company.
  • Translate business problems and questions into analysis requirements and gathers data from multiple sources to complete the analysis
  • Work on analytic problems where analysis of data requires a review of a variety of factors to understand drivers and opportunities
  • Perform ad-hoc analytical support when required
  • Create reports and data visualizations to support analyses that explain business trends and key drivers (i.e. the “what” and “why”)
  • Build cases for action and help obtain buy-in from sponsors and subject matter experts
  • Communicate effectively in formal presentation settings including creation of proposals, presentations, and deliverables.
  • Develop and produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance metrics reports for senior management to answer key business questions
  • Efficiently and accurately prepare data for analysis while maintaining quality control of final deliverables
  • Query data and write SQL scripts when necessary to extract customer insights
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or other analytical discipline
  • Self-motivated and directed while a positive, strong team player and problem-solver
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills

  • Solid Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, functions, etc.) and PowerPoint skills
  • Basic SQL/SAS skills for reporting or experience with similar programming language (R, Python, etc.)
  • Experience using Tableau (or other comparable tools) to create visual data presentations
  • Experience with Business Objects
  • Knowledge of relational databases and data warehouse principles
  • Basic knowledge of statistics (e.g., multivariate statistics, predictive modeling, controlled test design
