Videa is rapidly bringing a series of products, services and new technology to the traditional TV media marketplace by building a new automated and data-driven approach to buying & selling linear television advertising. Videa is laser-focused on ensuring our supply side platform is the leading solution for local broadcasters and media buying agencies across the US. 

The Business Analyst II (BA) role is to help in the management and analysis of complex business requirements and in the translation of business requirements into actionable designs and work items within the agile Software Development team.  This includes developing and maintaining business process flows, business scenarios, business requirements documentation and facilitating definition of systems requirements.  This position also works closely with the Technology delivery teams to ensure business requirements are understood and translated correctly to technical solutions.  The Sr. Business Analyst reports into IT management and works closely with business management to align technical solutions with business needs.

PRIMARY TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business / Systems Analysis
• Work directly with Product team and 3rd parties to elicit functional requirements
• Work with Technology team to understand the technical needs of the system
• Achieve a deep understanding of the organization’s business needs to develop viable business architecture solutions
• Document requirements from all parts of the organization in a manner that is understandable and testable
• Pre-empt issues related to conflicting requirements and initiate action to resolve these issues
• Work with and support Product Owners and Project Coordinators to ensure that outstanding requirements are achievable within allocated schedule
• Develop business architecture strategies and solution sets based on a situational awareness of applicable business scenarios and processes
• Clearly illustrate the tactical and strategic organization goals to provide clear linkage between the business needs and IT processes.
• Provide clear business function knowledge to IT organization to improve development of IT solutions serving the business.

Technical
• Understand the technology constraints and their impact upon business requirements
• Explain key technology features to Product and reconcile these with requirements
• Review and adjust technical stories to ensure that they meet the business needs
• Define the data shared across the enterprise and the relationships between those data.

Development
• Work with both development team and Product team to ensure that ongoing development meets the needs of the business
• Liaise with 3rd party vendors to ensure that their deliverables meet our requirements
• Work with QA to ensure that delivered product meets the level of quality expected

Many hats
• In the early days of the company the expectation is that every technical team member will wear whatever that is needed at a particular time. This means individuals aiding any part of the technical team in whatever capacity as appropriate for their skillset.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, COMPETENCIES:
• Experience using a commercial tool for managing Backlogs (TFS, VersionOne, RallyDev, etc.)
• Database query and strong Excel skills
• Capturing requirements in an unambiguous manner
• Managing the expectations and deliverables of other parts of the organization
• Ability to Identify and recommend process improvements
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations
• Strong aptitude toward communicating complex business and technical concepts using visualization and modeling aids
• Ability to conceptualize and design sophisticated wireframes, workflows, and diagrams 
• The ability to visualize and create high-level models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture
• The ability to apply architectural principles to business solutions
• The ability to assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and drawings, and articulate their collective relevance to the organization and to high-priority business issues
• Extensive experience planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives
• Team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus
• Strong situational analysis and decision making abilities



Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience as a hands-on Business Analyst / Sr. Business Analyst preferably in the Media industry
• 5+ years’ experience designing complex solutions, preferably in a software development shop 
• Technical, Science or Business related undergraduate degree preferred
• Experience working in small or startup software development environment
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment required
• Extensive Linear and Digital Media Industry strongly preferred
• Experience with Media Buy/Sell OTC systems such as MediaOcean, Strata, WideOrbit, OSi, Operative, FreeWheel strongly preferred
