Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE

The mission of the QuoteCenter product team is to radically reimagine the shopping experience at Home Depot utilizing the latest web technologies and data tools. 

We are searching for a Retail Strategy Business Analyst to join our pricing analyst team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Retail pricing.  Design, test and implement retail pricing strategies for the special order product catalog. Audit product category pricing for cross-channel alignment.
  • Discount programs.  Build, test, deploy, and manage special order product discount functionalities.
  • Opportunity analysis.  Review pricing on high volume items for  sales and margin challenges, making related recommendations.
  • Cost Governance.  Monitor vendor cost change activity, manage and develop an approval process framework.  Partner with Vendor Services team to identify inconsistencies and potential costing and vendor behavior issues.
  • New programs.  Build, test, and deploy pricing programs for newly launched categories within our special order product platform..
  • Tool enhancements.  Partner with Dev team to identify, recommend, and test new functionalities to improve pricing and discount administration.
  • Ad hoc analysis

Experience

  • Recent experience in a Senior Business or Financial Analyst role preferred
  • Ability to collaborate with management, product strategy and product development teams on vision, strategy and approach
  • Communicate results and opportunities to our QC and merchant partners
  • Use data-driven approach to identify areas of improvement opportunity for team efficiency and effectiveness and work with relevant resources to prioritize
  • Leverage analytics to identify, test, validate, and deploy new pricing and discounting strategies

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES, AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

20% Plan and lead all phases of a project's life cycle (i.e. feasibility, design implementation, evaluation); this inclues extracting the business need; defining the business requirements, understanding the impact on the business, and designing and carrying out the project(s)
10% Serve as liaison between merchandising and finance by facilitating meetings including both departments
10% Mentor other analysts in developing/honing business knowledge and analytical skills
20% Serve as a subject matter expert and perform research and/or analysis within assigned projects
20% Multi-task to work on 2 to 4 projects simultaneously, recommending process improvements and making final project recommendations which impact the business
20% Establish and report on metrics of assigned projects to gage business value

NATURE AND SCOPE
Reports to a director-level position within merchandising
No direct reports, however, the position will be required to mentor others who have the need for assistance

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 2 years

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must have:

  • Financial/business analysis experience, retail background preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to use numbers and metrics to make recommendations.
  • Ability to combine data from multiple data sources, finding important trends and patterns

Should have:

  • College degree; BA/BS in Finance, Business or related field.
  • Process management experience, comfortable with workflows and gantt charts
  • Industry experience (retail, building materials, etc)

Nice-to-have:

  • Tableau
  • SQL
  • Microsoft Visio
  • JIRA

 Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

Strong project management skills, including strong process orientation, ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
Good communication skills, including ability to interact with officers, also needs includes and persuade
Strong analytical skills and general understanding of technical concepts
Ability to establish priorities and procedures for accomplishing work within established deadlines; ability to handle multiple projects and manage toward deadlines and deliverables
Proven leadership skills, including a willingness and ability to be a mentor
